The Samsung Family Hub refrigerator's 21-inch touchscreen makes it the command center of the kitchen. It's a great feature, however it lacks the quality of sound that comes from a dedicated Bluetooth speaker.
The Family Hub fridge's main drawback is the price however, it comes with many other excellent features. It's one the best-designed smart refrigerators available and comes with a range of features that make the purchase worth it, even for families that don't intend to use the full capacity of this fridge.

Samsung's most recent and boldest attempt to sell us on smart fridges is the Family Hub Refrigerator. A 21.5-inch touchscreen packed with apps, cameras that monitor inventory inside the doors, and a sleek, attractive black stainless-steel finish make the fridge appear more modern than any other on the market. It's also pricey starting at $5,600 or $6,000 for a counter-depth model that has a bigger capacity.
The Family Hub can do just about everything you'd want a fridge to do such as stream music and manage your calendar and grocery list. But its numerous applications, lack of voice control, and missing SmartThings integration (it does come with a camera, but) aren't exactly great opportunities. It's also smaller than premium French door models, even with the extra capacity for ice.
Another aspect to take into consideration when shopping for a refrigerator is the amount of energy it consumes over its entire life cycle. This includes the embodied energy of the raw materials that are used, the energy needed to make it, as well as any additional natural gas or electricity it consumes while operating in your home. The fridge is futuristic but it's not a radical departure from how we've used fridges in the past. After all, a refrigerator has always been an office for families with busy schedules, serving as a place to display calendars reports, report cards, and to-do lists, reminding us of soccer practices, or just to record items we'll need to purchase.
Samsung's app offers many of the same features that you'd find on smartphones and while the touchscreen is a big improvement over the sluggish and unresponsive touchscreens found on previous smart fridges, it still feels pretty limited in terms of what you can do using it. The apps are mostly designed to keep track of the food inventory of your fridge and set timers. However, it's difficult to not be disappointed Alexa isn't there.
While Samsung doesn't offer an official breakdown of where their products are assembled, based on the fact that they have four chip fabrication centers in South Korea and one in Austin, Texas, it's probably safe to assume that most of the fridges are made overseas (Manufacturing-Centers). This means that, throughout the product's life cycle, the sun's energy is used to make the raw materials needed to make the fridge. Then, kinetic energy is used to transport the fridge, manufacture it, and operate it.
